The Bay State Reader’s Advisory blog (formerly known as the Brockton Public Library Reader’s Advisory blog) is not connected to any library. Its content is written entirely by me, a Massachusetts public librarian, in my free time away from work.

The purpose of the blog is to suggest books and audiobooks to readers, and advise readers on whether they might like a particular book or author, based on their reading preferences or what they’re in the mood for. I hope to branch out eventually into more reader’s advisory-related posts, library-related posts, book lists, and readalikes.

Please feel free to offer your own reading suggestions and opinions in the comments section after any post. Just click where it says the number of comments under the heading of each post to add your comment.

Books reviewed on this blog are from my own collection, from the public library, received in e-galley format from the publisher through NetGalley, or free review copies sent to me by publishers upon request and approval. I do not receive payment for any reviewing. I also review books assigned to me by Library Journal, and receive no payment beyond the review copy and (sometimes) a copy of the published book. There is usually no overlap between the books I review for review journals and the books I review on this blog.

To contact me, please email lauriec AT baystatera DOT com. Due to time constraints (I have a full-time job) I do not usually review unsolicited, self-published books that wouldn’t be readily available to readers through a public library.
