It’s Monday, and what I’ve been reading over the past few weeks is mostly by way of audiobooks.

After my download of The Witch Elm by Tana French expired before I could finish it (Arrgh, I hate when that happens!) I listened to a few psychological suspense novels that also had long waitlists and had come in for me all at once.

After listening to these three novels one after the other, I realized I was feeling jumpy and paranoid, so I switched to lighter listening for a while!

For my January book club meeting, I read Morningstar: Growing Up with Books by Ann Hood. It’s very short (a criterion my book club peeps always ask me to prioritize when choosing the December and January book selections) with each chapter focusing on how a particular book affected her at particular times of her life. The author (born in the late 50s) grew up in the neighboring state of Rhode Island and most of us in the group felt she combined her youthful memories with mature reflection using the theme of books and reading in an insightful and interesting way.

For print books, I have my Christmas gift pile to read, and started with Crazy Rich Asians. I’m enjoying the combination of snark, sweet, and Singapore slang immensely! (Have not seen the movie.)

I’ve also been reading a biography of Joni Mitchell (given to me last Christmas (!)…where does the time go) and enjoying dipping into nonfiction for a change.

What are you reading this week?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (#IMWAYR) is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. It’s a place to meet up and share what you have been, are, and about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever-growing TBR pile! This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at Book Date.
