Someday, Maybe by Onyi Nwabineli was released last month, and I’ve been so out of it that I didn’t realize it was the Good Morning America Book Club selection for November. This usually bumps up the library wait list for a book astronomically (I only just got around to listening to Lessons in Chemistry, which was the April selection, because of the long wait list.) so I was lucky I had an advance reading copy of Someday, Maybe from NetGalley.
A tragic death of a young husband by suicide is at the heart of Someday, Maybe, so it’s not always an easy read. BuzzFeed describes the book as an “emotional gut-punch” and that seems about right. The book is narrated by the newly widowed Eve Ezenwa-Morrow. But it’s really a book about the emotional rollercoaster of surviving such a loss and what loving family and friends can and can’t do to help their grieving loved one. Highly recommended!
