It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? 03-15-21

My March reading has been much of a muchness, as my currently-reading books keep carrying over from week to week! I hope to finish both this week, as I have several ARCs I need to get to. The two books I’m reading concurrently are both very different, but both very good. (Click on the titles for more info about the books.)

Currently Reading

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (Macmillan, 2020) by V. E. Schwab

Temporarily Not Reading

The Mentor by Lee Matthew Goldberg (not to be confused with Lee Goldberg) is a work of literary crime fiction that I started on impulse and the plot took a serial-killer-style turn that made me put it down for a while. This one is no cozy, despite the books on the cover, so is not for the faint of heart.

The Eulogist by Terry Gamble got mixed reviews from our library book club last week. But those who didn’t like it, were wrong. haha

Already know A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik will be one of my favorite audiobooks of 2021. Although I don’t think this was published as a young adult book, apart from a few uses of the F-word, this book about the junior class of a school of wizardry where the attrition rate refers to deaths, not dropouts, should be a favorite of teens, as well as adults.

Currently Listening To

Killed at the Whim of a Hat by Colin Cotterill was recommended to me by a patron at the library who was reading through the entire series. I was looking for more humorous books to listen to, so I borrowed it as an audiobook. It’s the beginning of a series about a journalist and amateur detective in rural Thailand, narrated by Jeany Parks.

Appropriately, as it happens, we had Thai takeout for dinner the day I started this!

Your books look very tempting! And I had to smile at the image of eating Thai food while reading Killed at the Whim of a Hat. I often associate certain foods with books I’m reading.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

I’ve heard so many good things about Addie LaRue! Maybe one day it will be available at the library.

So many people loved A Deadly Education but it wasn’t my favorite. I don’t know what I missed but I’m glad you liked it so much!

Enjoy your week!
