It pained me to put the October date in my post heading this morning. September is already over? And I finished a Big Book Summer Challenge book just this morning!
Currently Reading
Three More Months (Lake Union, Dec. 2021) by Sarah Echavarre
This is a pre-pub review copy. Starting it today.
Libertie (Algonquin, 2021) by Kaitlyn Greenidge
Libertie by Kaitlyn Greenidge is my library book club book this month. Also starting this one today!
Recently Read
The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell
My 478-page Big Book Summer Challenge book — finished late, but The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet has been on my TBR list for at least a few years! (Oops, for about a decade, actually. This book came out in 2010.)
Minus Me (Alcove, 2021) by Mameve Medwed
Read Minus Me (Alcove, 2021) because I have liked this Massachusetts author’s books in the past but, sad to say, this story about a youngish married couple didn’t click for me.
Recently Listened To
We Were Rich and We Didn’t Know It (SImon & Schuster) by Tom Phelan
Listened to this memoir of an Irish Catholic boyhood on a long drive this weekend. Humorous and poignant, especially in the stories about the author’s father. Excellent audiobook narration by Gerard Doyle!
Currently Listening To
The Madness of Crowds (Macmillan, 2021) by Louise Penny
The new Armand Gamache / Three Pines book by Louise Penny! I need say no more. Hurrying to get to the end before the library loan of this audiobook expires!
This post is linked to “It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?” hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. Check out the link-up party there for more book lists!
I feel the same, it’s too soon to be October!
Wishing you a great reading week
I agree, how can it be October already??
Three More Months looks so good and I love most Lake Union published books. I hope you enjoy it.
Have a great week and happy reading.
The Tom Phelan book sounds very good. I like the look of Three Months More as well.
A lovely mix of reads and I hope you enjoy them all.
I won a copy of LIBERTIE from my library during our Adult Summer Reading program. I haven’t had a chance to start it yet, but I’m looking forward to it!
Congrats on finishing another Big Book! Better late than never is my life motto 🙂 I loved Cloud Atlas and have been wanting to read another David Mitchell ever since. What did you think of this one?
I’ve been hearing good things about Libertie.
I’m late for my “Monday” visits this week!

Book By Book
If you liked Cloud Atlas, you’ll like Jacob De Zoet, I think. Jacob turns up as a character in Utopia Avenue, and maybe in others? His books have threads running through connecting them, but I haven’t delved into it that much. Some of them are better when read in order because there are references to earlier books, etc.
