I’m starting The Kinship of Secrets today for book club next week. I’ve just now discovered that it’s a sequel of sorts to The Calligrapher’s Daughter, so my book group is not going to be happy with me, I’m afraid!
In my defense, publishers tend to downplay this information, right? So people won’t think they need to read the first book before buying the new book.
The Great Man Theory by Teddy Wayne
I wrote about The Great Man Theory last week. I’m about halfway through it, and am enjoying it. It’s coming out in July from Bloomsbury Publishing.

Mademoiselle Revolution by Zoe Sivak is one I’m reviewing for Library Journal. It’s a work of historical fiction, set at the time of the Haitian Revolution. Coming out in early August from Berkley Books.

Anthem by Noah Hawley
I did manage to finish listening to Anthem over the weekend before the library download expired on me! I had hoped to have time to write something about it, but this from the publisher will have to suffice:

In Prior’s Wood by G. M. Malliet
I was surprised I had missed the latest Max Tudor mystery, and once I started listening to it, I realized I hadn’t! But because I pay so little attention to puzzling out the mystery, I’ve forgotten whodunnit and kept listening anyway. I may return it early, though, because there are five people waiting for it all of a sudden, and I remembered I had a review copy of an audiobook I need to listen to.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
This one comes out tomorrow! I received an advance listening copy from NetGalley but forgot I had it. 🙁

Didn’t know Ann Leary had a new book. I’ve enjoyed two of her previous novels, so will definitely keep an eye out for this one!
Congratulations with a new DIL! I have The Foundling on my TBR and I just finished Remarkably Bright Creatures (no review yet) but I LOVED it! I’m curious about Anthem, Noah Hawley – I know I read a book by him previously.

that’s funny. i can read books over and over too as i completely forget the details as soon as i’ve finished the book. very handy really.
I skipped to the end so I could return the audio to the library and I was right about who I thought the murderer was, so there was a vague memory somewhere in the back of my mind!
