Welcome to the Literary Giveaway Blog Hop! (I’ve messed up on my first-ever blog hop, and thought it started Monday. Sorry about that to any early-birds!)
The Literary Giveaway Blog Hop is hosted by Judith at Leeswammes’ Blog. Between now and Wednesday, June 26th, you can hop to 40+ different book blogs, all offering one or more giveaways of books or bookish items. All books will be literary (non)fiction or something close to that. Follow the links at the bottom of this post to find the other participating blogs.
My giveaway is Big Brother by Lionel Shriver, one of my go-to authors when I want to read a novel that’s clever and thought-provoking, maybe on a topic that veers near to being taboo. I’m only halfway through the book, myself, because I thought I had the weekend to finish and post my review, but it is definitely a compelling story about how people react to obesity in a family member.
The giveaway is international, as long as Book Depository will deliver to your country. To enter the giveaway, please leave a blog post comment about Big Brother or Lionel Shriver and then enter your name in the giveaway via the Rafflecopter form.

No need to enter me (I have read the book) but wanted to comment that I thought it was EXCELLENT. It is my first book from Shriver but her writing is so good.
I want to read Big Brother so badly! I just started hearing about this author and book, and it seems to be catching fire everywhere it touches. Some of the women I work with are silent through lunch as they read the book. Can’t wait to check it out!
Never read anything by Lionel Shriver (I have seen the movie of We Need To Talk About Kevin) but Big Brother went onto my ‘read’ list as soon as I heard about it as it sounds amazing and so many people have said I would love her writing.

Lionel Shriver is one of my must-read authors. I have her We Need to Talk About Kevin, which I’m hoping to read some time.
Hello!
I tried to read We Need to Talk About Kevin a few years ago, and while I found the book to be completely interesting and provoking, I had trouble reading it since the author has a very particular style when it comes to vocabulary. However, I plan to give the book a second chance very soon. Thanks for the giveaway!
I don’t think you messed anything up π Heard many goo things about We Need to Talk About Kevin so I am pretty sure this one is equally good!

I have not yet read any of Lionel Shriver’s novels and am only familiar with her fine work as a journalist. Thank you for the suggestion, the Harper Collins link, and the giveaway opportunity!

Im not really familiar with the book or the author but Ive heard great things π
Never heard of the author or the book but am wondering whether it has some connection with Orwellian Big Brother. I read a book called The Fat Man in History which was extremely compelling. Perhaps this one is too. Thanks for the giveaway.
I didn’t know the author, but if he is one of your favourites, I suppose it is a good choice!

Oh, great choice! I really want to read this book. We Need To Talk About Kevin is one of my all-time favourites and I’ve wanted to read something else of hers since I finished it. All the reviews I’ve read of Big Brother sound really promising. Thanks for the giveaway!
Thanks for this opportunity! I’ve actually been interested in reading this book for awhile, as my own brother could use an intervention (or two)….not for obesity, but I’m sure some of the themes in this book will resonate.
