Monogamy by Sue Miller
“Monogamy demonstrates that Miller remains one of the finest cartographers of the territory of marriage.” – The Washington Post
Not sure why explorations of marriage intrigue me so. Sue Miller is a favorite author, so I would read her book anyway, but the subject is a bonus! (The only drawback is it’s not long enough to count towards the Big Book Summer 2021 Challenge.)
This is an ebook from the library, so I need to finish up ASAP.

Portals by PJ Yovino
Last week I completed the first book in the Big Book Summer 2021 Challenge with Sue Jackson, with Portals clocking in at 512 pages.
I wrote about Portals by PJ Yovino, a member of the writers’ group at the library, in my last post. It’s a self-published book, and I admire the author’s accomplishment!
I enjoyed the story (set in Massachusetts and elsewhere) and also knowing some of the writing process that led to the completed work.

Good Neighbors by Sarah Langan
“This is a story of broken friendships, a sinkhole, a missing child, lies, and whispers. It is funny, tragic, and compelling. Lewis captures the essence of the adults and children of Maple Street, and even the neighborhood itself. An outstanding performance.” – AudioFile

Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne
I keep mixing up Sally Thorne and Sally Rooney. They’re not at all the same, but this light rom-com is good for my jangling nerves right now.
This post is linked to “It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?” hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. Check out the link-up party there for more book lists!
I loved Monogamy when I read it but, unfortunately, Good Neighbors was a DNF – just wasn’t working for me.
I almost stopped listening, too, but ended up finishing it. Only 3 stars on LibraryThing because I felt the humor was too light for such a dark story.
Good Neighbors looks super interesting.
