It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? 11-10-25

This weekend was the annual Local Author Book Fair at my library. Although the authors got to network with each other, we saw a big drop in attendance from last year.

Along with the usual difficulty local authors struggle with, competing for attention with well-known authors, the uncertain economy this year might have played a large role, as people cut back on discretionary spending. Also, more people may prefer to read books on their devices rather than buying books in print.

Personally, I ended up buying more books than I had planned, of course!

Since I haven’t got much of an update on my books and audiobooks, I also want to ask everyone in Massachusetts to support intellectual freedom and unite against book bans by calling your state senator before Thursday!

The Senate Ways & Means has redrafted and released An Act Regarding Free Expression, and the full Senate will be debating and voting on this bill on Thursday, November 13.

Please contact your state senator and ask them to vote to pass bill S.2696 on Thursday. Please note that S.2696 is a new bill number and has replaced the previous bill.  When you contact your Senator be sure to reference this new number, S.2696.

Don’t know who your Senator is? Find your Legislator here.

If you don’t live in Massachusetts, check here for what you can do in your state to support freedom of expression and speak out against book banning.

Marble Hall Murders by Anthony Horowitz

Murder links past and present once again in this mind-boggling metafictional mystery from Anthony Horowitz featuring detective Atticus Pünd and editor Susan Ryeland, stars of the New York Times bestsellers Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders.

This is a long audiobook! I should have listened to this over Big Book Summer!

P.S. Did I ever mention that I received a new laptop from my husband for our wedding anniversary a few months ago, with everything transferred over and practically everything done for me already?

This has made checking email and working on my blog much faster and more pleasant; I keep hoping it will get me back on track.

This post is linked up to It’s Monday, What Are You Reading, hosted by The Book Date. It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a place to meet up and share what you have been and are currently reading each week. Visit the link-up for more books to add to your groaning TBR pile.

Congrats on the new laptop! I’ve asked for one for Christmas, since I took mine to the Genius Bar with a broken camera, dying battery, and almost-full storage, and he said it wasn’t worth the cost to repair it! I’m looking forward to not having to remove files from it every time I try to edit a new video lol

The book event looks like fun!

The Handmaid’s Taleis such a powerful, thought-provoking novel. I still need to read the sequel (which I have). Have you seen the TV adaptation yet? It’s outstanding, perhaps one of the best TV shows ever made! One of the very few adaptations I would say is even better than the book because they took everything that’s great about the book and expanded on it, with outstanding writing, talented cast, and stunning cinematography.

I’ve been making my way slowly through 50 Beasts – she was a Booktopia author for this book 🙂 She’s a VERY entertaining speaker (performer, really).

So nice to hear from you 🙂 Enjoy all those new books!
