Happy New Year! Here’s hoping for a happy, healthy 2024 for us all!

Night of the Living Rez by Morgan Talty
My choice for 2024 First Book of the Year is Night of the Living Rez: Stories by Morgan Talty. This book is one I’ve been hearing a lot about, so I put it on my Christmas wish list.
Sheila at Book Journey was putting together her annual First Book collage of book bloggers’ choices for first book of the year, Amid all the holiday hubbub I did get my picture taken with my little cherub (who was visiting with us for the WHOLE week) and sent it in.
Watch for Sheila’s post here: Book Journey First Book of 2024
Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young
Spells for Forgetting was an off-list Christmas gift. I didn’t have much time for reading in December, so I’ve just barely started it, but it has magical realism and buried secrets from the past so far!

How to Dance by Jason B. Dutton
How to Dance by Jason B. Dutton was a LibraryThing Early Reviewer win for me in December. I really enjoyed this romance! The main character, Nick, has a disability — cerebral palsy — and would perhaps not want me to call him inspirational in how he overcomes it with sheer force of personality and charisma.
How to Dance won’t be out until February, so full review will follow!

Great picture! 🙂 Happy New Year! <3
I am all about a good contemporary romance so will look for your review of Dance in February!
I am currently reading a bio of Nora Heysen the australian painter who was a war artist in WW2. Happy new year!
Great looking photo Laurie. Hope that first book of the year is really good. Looks like you found some good Christmas books to listen to. Wishing you a very happy New Year.
Happy New Year! Lovely photo. I do most of my reading via Kindle these days but that doesn’t really work for these kind of photos!
I’m glad you were able to visit with your granddaughter (and other family, I assume?) for a whole week! That’s a great picture. I read quite a few of Adrienne Young’s books in 2020, I believe but didn’t realize she had a new one (to me) out. I’ll be sure to look for it. Happy New Year to you and your family!
