It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? 6-23-25

Another busy travel weekend — this one started going to Connecticut for a line dance weekend and ended with a family gathering to celebrate my mother’s ___th birthday at my sisters’ house. In the middle of staying off my phone and trying to forget about the state of the country, came the news that the US had bombed Iran.

The Children’s Book by A.S. Byatt

My Big Book Summer read!

Famous author Olive Wellwood writes a special private book, bound in different colours, for each of her children. In their rambling house near Romney Marsh they play in a story-book world – but their lives, and those of their rich cousins and their friends, the son and daughter of a curator at the new Victoria and Albert Museum, are already inscribed with mystery. Each family carries its own secrets.

Smart Girl Summer by Kristin Rockaway

From Kristin Rockaway comes a fun, insightful romance about what can happen when life gets off track but you’re willing to go along for the ride.
This summer’s not going as Abby Atkinson planned. A thieving PhD adviser, a screeching halt to her grad program, and zero job offers have left her high and dry. Nothing a little eat, pray, love across the Mediterranean can’t fix, right?

Trouble Ahead by Bill Fleming

Amidst the crisis of the global pandemic, a veteran MBTA transit police sergeant must navigate politics and protest while being on the lookout for a madman back from the dead. This latest edition of the series continues the journey above and below the streets of one of the country’s oldest and most iconic cities. For Morris, the trouble ahead of him may be the past that he can’t escape, but if there is something he knows for certain, it’s that in Boston, a crime story isn’t a whodunit. It’s a “how did they get away with it?”

It is hard to keep positive given everything that is going on in the world. We just have to do our best!
