It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Read an excerpt from The Color of Air by Gail Tsukiyama.
When No One Is Watching will be published by William Morrow Paperbacks on September 1, 2020. Highly recommended for readers of literary suspense! Watch for it!

I swore off joining reading challenges after all my dismal failures of the past, but pandemic life has wreaked so much havoc on my daily routines that I thought maybe I’ve changed too! 😉
So I’m joining the Big Book Summer challenge, hosted by Sue of Book by Book, for the first time, and hope to get at least one big print book read before the end of summer, starting with…
At 770 pages, The Book of Kings by James Thackera certainly qualifies as a “big book”! I’m hoping my current teeny, weeny little attention span will rise to this challenge this summer.

I’m going backwards with these books about friends and lovers by Jasmine Guillory, but since each one is a standalone story and you know each is a romcom, there aren’t any real spoilers for the plot of the next book!
In The Wedding Date, set in California’s Bay Area and L.A., I got the backstory of Alexa and Drew’s meet-cute and whirlwind romance that was touched on briefly in The Wedding Party – which focused on Alexa’s friends Maddie and Theo, in Berkeley.
Listen to a sample of The Wedding Date read by Janina Edwards

I can’t believe A God in Ruins came out in 2015 and I’m just getting around to it! It’s a follow-up to Life After Life (2014) by Kate Atkinson, one of my all-time favorite novels.
Listen to an excerpt from A God in Ruins read by Alex Jennings.
Let me know what you’re reading this week! Thank you for visiting!
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (#IMWAYR) is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. It’s a place to meet up and share what you have been, are, and about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever-growing TBR pile! This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at Book Date.
I have loved several Kate Atkinson books, but Life After Life didn’t appeal to me, so I didn’t read the follow-up. I prefer the Jackson Brodie series.
I may have to check further in her list, though. Enjoy! Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES
I like the Jackson Brodie books, too, but I liked the big, sprawling English family saga and history of Life after Life, and I’m a sucker for alternate histories and time travel, too!
I don’t do reading challenges but all of my very long books by David Weber would make completing the challenge a slam dunk. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
I have never read Kate Atkinson but have been aware of her books. Not sure if I am a serious enough reader for her books! I like the look of the Alyssa Cole one.
There’s a lot of dry British humor in Kate Atkinson’s writing, though!
I don’t do reading challenges anymore, either! This pandemic is making me do crazy things! 😀
All of your books look good. I have to add When No One Is Watching to my list. It sounds like my kind of book. Hope you have a great week!
Thanks!
I need to finish my big book of summer. I think the challenge runs through August, right? I need to check. I still have a hundred or so pages in my collection of Katherine Anne Porter’s short stories.
When No one is Watching sounds promising
Wishing you a great reading week
I hope it runs through August, or I’m worse off than I thought!
When No One Is Watching is really good! Thanks for stopping by!
