It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? 8-5-24

I’m still here and still reading! Just an overnight trip this weekend for my youngest sister’s surprise birthday dinner party at the Fat Crow in Newfane, Vermont. She’s so private she’s not even on Facebook, so no family pictures will be shared here! We had a three-hour drive or so, so was able to finish listening to my current audiobook from the library before it expired the next day.

Please let me know what you’re reading in the comments and/or share your blog link! (If you can’t see where to comment, try clicking/tapping on the title of this post to open it in full.)

Leaves already falling in the first week of August???
Wood-fired brick oven for pizza. We could watch them throwing the dough from our table.

The Once and Future King by T.H. White

I’m trying to finish The Once and Future King for Big Book Summer before starting the new King Arthur book by Lev Grossman. The ebook from the library expired on me, and I guess other readers are doing the same thing, because this time three people were waiting for it.

So I borrowed the big hardcover from the library instead. Just finished Book Three this morning! It’s really four books put together as one. The final book, The Candle in the Wind, is the shortest, it looks like.

Wendy Francis was our special guest author at Mocktails & Beach Reads at the library last week to promote her latest book, Feels Like Summer. She’s a local author that I try to keep up with, but Summertime Guests from 2021 was one that I had missed.

Happy Birthday to your sister!

It’s been a long a time since I’ve read any Stephen King, but it might be time again.

First time to your blog!

That’s a good idea, to read or reread The Once and Future King before reading The Bright Sword. I’m halfway through the Grossman and enjoying it.

The Vermont trip sounds really lovely with the added plus of finishing the audiobook. I love the Vermont setting in books, hope it is as good in real life.

Beer and pizza … yum!! Two of the things I most miss 🙂 Looks amazing!

Glad you’re enjoying The Once and Future King. And I haven’t read any King short story collections in a very long time! We have a few on our shelves that we inherited from my dad.

Sounds like a nice trip. Enjoy your books this week –

Vermont looks wonderful, it’s a state that has always appealed to me. That Pizza looks absolutely tasty. A short story collection from a really good author would be excellent.
