Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2021

Bookshelf with text across the top reading "Speaking of Books..."

Before the 2020 wrap-up posts are even a week old (or in some cases – such as mine – not even completed yet) it’s time to talk about all the shiny new books that we want to get our hands on in the first half of 2021.

There are plenty of lists that will list the top-name authors whose 2021 books already have the highest number of holds at the library (Four Winds by Kristin Hannah, anyone?) but my list contains mostly books by favorite authors whose books I try mightily to keep up with. (It helps if they don’t publish at a Pattersonion pace.)

Yellow Wife I read as an advance copy, and it also made my Favorite Books of 2020 list.

My Top Ten Tuesday list is in order of release date, January to June:

The Liar’s Dictionary (Doubleday, 1/5/21) by Eley Williams

Deep Into the Dark (St. Martin’s, 1/12/21) by P.J. Tracy

Yellow Wife by Sadeqa Johnson (Simon & Schuster, 1/12/21)

Burnt Sugar (US ed. – Overlook, 1/26/21) by Avni Doshi

How Beautiful We Were (Penguin Random, 3/9/21) by Imbolo Mbue

All the Children Are Home (Harper Perennial, 4/13/21) by Patry Francis

Early Morning Riser (Penguin Random, 4/13/21) by Katherine Heiny

The Hour of the Witch (Penguin Random, 4/20/21) by Chris Bohjalian

Whereabouts (Knopf, 4/27/21) by Jhumpa Lahiri

One Two Three (Henry Holt, 6/8/21) by Laurie Frankel

Are any of these on your list? I’m sharing this for Top Ten Tuesday, so you’ll find many other upcoming releases listed there!
