It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Reminder to Self: It’s May 4th in the year 2020. It seems April Fool’s Day is on an endless loop — day after day of miserable spring weather, stranger-than-fiction facts, and hard-to-believe whoppers.
From my own collection, I’m reading Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie. I bought it for reading on our New York–Bermuda cruise that got canceled along with everything else in April. It’s #15 in the Hercule Poirot series, and the only other one I’ve read is the first: The Mysterious Affair at Styles.
So far Poirot is in Egypt with the future victim and future murder suspects (I assume), the cruise down the Nile hasn’t started, and no one has died.

I’m also dipping in and out of Gretchen Rubin’s book Outer Order, Inner Calm: Declutter and Organize to Make More Room for Happiness.
So far, this small collection of pithy pieces of advice about decluttering hasn’t worked any miracles, but I have found myself tidying up tiny little areas or sorting out one pile of papers here and there, on the strength of the following advice:

Murder on Cape Cod by Maddie Day is a cozy mystery, first in the author’s new Cozy Capers Book Group series. Maddie, a bike shop owner in a tourist town, is a member of a book club that reads only cozy mysteries and meets weekly to talk about them, but before she literally does – walking home one night after a book club meeting – she has never stumbled upon a corpse in real life.

It’s been a while since I entered a blog giveaway, but I did enter one I saw on Twitter last month, and I won by random drawing a book of my choice from Justine of Whispers & Wonder! Thank you, Justine! Justine blogs about science fiction and fantasy – especially dark fantasy. Check out her most recent reviews and follow @WhispersandWonder on Instagram and @__its_justine__ on Twitter.
For my prize I chose, fittingly enough, what looks to be a dark fantasy: The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith. Plus it’s about books, which I like.
“It’s like The Good Place meets Law & Order: Bibliophile Crime Unit. Highly recommended. This book is so much fun, and you should be reading it. Trust me. Stories about story are some of my favorite kinds. This book definitely makes the list. I am so glad I read this.” — Seanan McGuire, author of In an Absent Dream

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (#IMWAYR) is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. It’s a place to meet up and share what you have been, are, and about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever-growing TBR pile! This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at Book Date.
