This is like when I was a pen pal as a kid and every letter started with “Sorry it has taken me so long to reply!” I had hoped to finish this post on my lunch hour, but I didn’t, so late again!
I have been trying to spend less time on Facebook, but instead I keep checking Substack and YouTube, so am defeating the purpose of reducing stress from the constant drip of bad political news. Too late for today (big Senate budget vote, etc.) but tomorrow I’m going to stay off the hour-by-hour stuff, and at the end of the day, just read the daily summary from one of my favorite authors Connie Willis (follow her political posts on Facebook at CW Daily) and the daily letter from my favorite historian, Heather Cox Richardson. Maybe I’ll check in for updates from Meidas Touch and Stephen Tyler Cohen, as well, but that’s it.
To distract me, and keep me on books instead of politics, please let me know what you’re reading in the comments and/or share your blog link! (If you can’t see where to comment, try clicking/tapping on the title of this post to open it in full.)
My current reading is almost the same as I reported in my last post, where I talk about them in a little more detail. The audiobook I’m listening to is new!

Smart Girl Summer by Kristin Rockaway

I bought Smart Girl Summer for our Mediterranean cruise in April, but I packed too many books to read them all while on vacation. It’s about a post-doc in physics who, after her university research position implodes, takes a summer job tutoring math to the daughter of a tech billionaire on a yacht sailing around the Mediterranean. Romance blossoms and takes her mind off her problems, until new problems arise!

NAMED A BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR BY:
THE NEW YORKER ● VOGUE ● FINANCIAL TIMES ● OPRAH DAILY ● VULTURE ● VOX
The New York Times bestselling author returns with an irreverently sexy, tender, hilarious and surprising novel about a woman upending her life.
I just realized All Fours is narrated by the author, and I never would have guessed. Also, it’s exactly 400 pages (10 hrs, 14 min) long, so it counts towards Big Book Summer! The audiobook is a wild, hormone-fueled ride. (I’ll just say “irreverently sexy” is an understatement, and leave it at that.)
