It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Currently Reading

The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo (Penguin Random House, 2019)

In addition to The Bookish Life of Nina Hill and The Most Fun We Ever Had that I mentioned last week, I’m also reading Year of No Clutter by Eve O. Schaub (Sourcebooks, 2017).

Year of No Clutter by Eve O. Schaub

Eve O. Schaub writes about her experience with clearing out her “Hell Room”, the room that was so cluttered with stuff that the door was almost always kept closed — only opened occasionally to put one more thing in there or risk life and limb to retrieve something from the room.

This is the author’s second stunt memoir (or “family torture experiment” as she calls them) after Year of No Sugar and before Year of No Garbage.

“Writer Eve O. Schaub tackles her home’s ‘Hell Room’ in Year of No Clutter: A Memoir. Along the way, she does more than minimize the amount of junk in her home; she contemplates her identity, past, and future.”

You’ve Been Volunteered by Laurie Gelman

You’ve Been Volunteered by Laurie Gelman

Lightening up the mood after finishing Truth Be Told by Hank Phillippi Ryan (which is a first-person psychological suspense novel that keeps listeners uneasily trying to guess what’s actually going on) I’m listening to You’ve Been Volunteered by Laurie Gelman, a follow-up to Class Mom.

You’ve Been Volunteered is funny and irreverent about motherhood, children, education, body image, and more. First-person narrator Jen Dixon is the type of mom that would be sharing all those homeschooling memes that are popping up now that schools are not in session.

The audiobook is read by the author herself, which I didn’t realize until just now. She’s got great comedic timing and I’ve been chuckling from the start.

Please comment to let me know what you’re reading this week. Thank you for visiting!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (#IMWAYR) is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. It’s a place to meet up and share what you have been, are, and about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever-growing TBR pile! This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at Book Date.
