It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? 12-22-25

Picture of bookshelf with text: SPEAKING OF BOOKS

My own answer is “not much,” but I hope you’re getting more time to read than me! I have been listening to audiobooks a lot, though, while baking Christmas goodies and getting ready for Christmas visits!

I’m still deciding on my First Book of 2026, but I need to choose and send my photo in soon for Sheila’s 13th Annual First Book of the Year photo collages at Book Journey. For my birthday, I received signed copies of books by Massachusetts authors – An Ordinary Wonder by Buki Papillon and The Bear by Andrew Krivak – so I may choose one of them. But I have others that I bought for myself or received as gifts in 2025 (or earlier) that I also haven’t read yet, so I may choose one of those.

Singin’ and Swingin’ and Gettin’ Merry Like Christmas by Maya Angelou

Singin’ and Swingin’ and Gettin’ Merry Like Christmas (Random House, 2009) by Maya Angelou

I started reading Maya Angelou’s autobiographies a couple of years ago, I think, and when I came across book #3 while searching in Libby for Christmas books, I grabbed it. It doesn’t actually have to do with Christmas beyond the title, I don’t think, but, as with the first two, it’s fascinating to read about her life and art.

The Christmas Wedding Guest: A Holiday Romance by Susan Mallery

The Christmas Wedding Guest (HQN, 2021) by Susan Mallery

This one is definitely a Christmas book – ready to be optioned for a Hallmark holiday movie, if it hasn’t already been made into one!
