This week’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is a freebie. I missed doing the “Books/Covers That Look Like Summer”, so I’m kind of doing it now, alphabetical by author, library-style, with a list of novels that are set in New England in summer.
(The New England States are Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island – in the order we memorized them in school as kids. Please don’t ask me to name the Mid-Atlantic, South Atlantic, or any other U.S. region’s states.
I’ve read or listened to all ten of these except Summer on the Bluffs, which I hope I might get to this summer. Have you read or want to read any of these?
Murder on Cape Cod by Maddie Day, narrated by Rachel Dulude
The Summer of Good Intentions by Wendy Francis
Summerland by Elin Hilderbrand
Evie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes
Summer on the Bluffs by Sunny Hostin
The Last Summer of the Camperdowns by Elizabeth Kelly
Drunken Fireworks (novella) by Stephen King, read by Tim Sample
The Arrivals by Meg Mitchell Moore
Firefly Summer by Nan Rossiter
That Old Cape Magic by Richard Russo
Until I finished this post, I didn’t realize how heavy my list is on Cape Cod and the Islands for settings. When people think of “summering” in Massachusetts, though, that’s where they’re usually thinking of!
I’m sharing this post with Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, so you’ll find many other Top Ten book lists there – on all different topics, this week!
Themed stories like this are so much fun. 🙂
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
Nice list! Several of these covers are very pretty and definitely have a Summer vibe. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Murder on Cape Cod looks good. That cover of Good Intentions looks so summery.
I loved Evvie Drake starts Over. And I love reading books set in New England. I am reading one at the moment set in Cape Cod. A Little Ray of Sunshine by Kristan Higgins.
Wow, except Steven King, I haven’t heard of these books. My immediate thought for books set in New England would be several novels by Henry James, as well as “The Scarlet Letter,” and (for a brief bit) “Moby Dick.” Maybe Edith Wharton.

They may be New England classics, but I don’t think of them as “Summer in New England”! 😎
I like a good New England setting, although I haven’t read any of these books. I’ll have to take a closer look at some of them. Great list!
Happy TTT!

Cool list! I love books that have a strong sense of place, so I’d be drawn to these for sure.
I haven’t read that Hildebrand book, but I have read another of hers and it fit this topic perfectly!
Here’s my TTT post.
I can’t say I’ve read any of these, but the covers all certainly look very summery!

I’d love to visit Cape Cod some day. Meanwhile, I can enjoy books set there so thank you for the recommendation. Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/my-top-ten-tbr-veterans/
What a fun list! The only one I’ve read is Evvie Drake Starts Over. And I’ve never even herd of Drunken Fireworks – how did I miss a Stephen King book?
Great list for summer reading!

The audio of Drunken Fireworks is a standalone, but you might have read it — it’s a long story published in one of his short story collections!
