It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? First Book of the Year 1-3-22 #IMWAYR

Did you see Sheila of Book Journey has put up her 8th annual First Book of the Year photo compilation for 2022?

My book cover doesn’t show up well in my photo, but I’m reading Crossroads by Jonathan Franzen as my first book. I usually choose a big book for the first, and I guess I’m not the only one!

Currently Reading

Crossroads (Farrar, Strauss, Giroux, 2021) by Jonathan Franzen

COVID hair again to start off 2022!

About to Start Reading

The Archive of the Forgotten (Penguin, 2020) by A. J. Hackwith

A Christmas gift from my mother-in-law who gave me a gift card! This will be the book I read on my breaks at work.

Temporarily Not Reading

Good and Mad: The Revolutionary Power of Women’s Anger by Rebecca Traister

This one is still on hold. Have a few other nonfiction books I might read first…

Currently Listening To

Eleven Pipers Piping by C. C. Benison

Second in a series

Recently Listened To

The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James

The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James is a dual-timeline suspense story set at a haunted motel. Excellent audiobook narration by Brittany Pressley & Kirsten Potter.

Better Off Dead by Lee Child

Not my favorite Jack Reacher story, but has all the elements Lee Child fans expect!

I enjoyed Crossroads; hope you do as well. I also loved Sundown Motel.

I like your picture. I grew out what I called my “COVID color hair” since March-2019. So happy I did – and wished I did it earlier.

Interesting book list. I didn’t think much about which book to read to start the year, but I picked one that my sister had given me for Christmas and enjoyed it.
