Tremor by Teju Cole
“A masterful novel by one of America’s finest writers . . . Cole is not just offering us a novel about art, migration, or marginalisation, rather a new politics of seeing, reading and thinking.”—The Daily Telegraph
Nobody’s Fool by Richard Russo
“Years ago, when I felt that the world weighed too heavily on my shoulders and believed (as only the young do) that the world would not willingly let me go, I used to dream of disappearing to some remote upstate New York town and checking in, a permanent guest, at its crumbling bleak hotel. Such towns, which I imagined to be off the edge of the map, are very much at the center of Richard Russo’s fictional geography. His ambitious new novel, “Nobody’s Fool,” is set in North Bath, N.Y., a fractionally less blighted version of the blue-collar dead end where his earlier novels, Mohawk and The Risk Pool, take place.” – Francine Prose, The New York Times June 20, 1993

Absolutely nothing to report! I haven’t finished either of my current books in the past week.
Currently Listening To
I’ve been listening to some very long audiobooks from the library lately, and in the middle of them, my other audiobook holds keep coming available and I put off delivery, but then newly available holds start coming in along with all the postponed holds, etc. etc.
I chose a fantasy again to reduce stress after all my horror listening this fall, but I forgot how dark V. E. Schwab’s fantasies are, so that plan kind of backfired.
Vicious by V. E. Schwab
“V.E. Schwab’s Vicious is as sharp as a knife and cold as a corpse. It’s a killer story about power, corruption, and vengeance, but it isn’t drowning in grimdark. Throughout, moments of love and light break through the storm clouds, keeping story from teetering too far into the irredeemably sinister.” – Tor.com

The October Country by Ray Bradbury
I didn’t get to finish this classic story collection (over 10 hours long). Even though I listened to it in November, The October Country is a good choice for fall reading. The stories are dark and tinged with melancholy, like fall evenings.

Some weeks are like that. I’m reading a longer audiobook right now too. I think it is over 17 hours, but I am enjoying it. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
I like the look of your books. I have enjoyed some by Richard Russo.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I enjoyed the first two of Russo’s Fool books on audio and plan to start his latest early next year. Hope you’re enjoying it so far. Happy Thanksgiving!
Am reading cheryl Strayed’s new book – sooo very good.
Oh, I hadn’t heard that she had a new one!
Yes, I’m enjoying it, but I guess it’s longer than it looked!
Thanks for visiting my blog! I got my post up in the morning for a change!
Getting Library holds makes me feel pressured so I tend not to put books on hold, choosing instead to put them on my TBR list to try again later.
I barely finished one picture book last week. Oh well!
