I’m on vacation, so I finally have time to do another Top Ten Tuesday post. Seeing Greg’s post on Book Haven reminded me that today’s theme was Comfort Reads. Here are some of my favorite books about groups of friends, as that’s one of my favorite kind of comfort reads. (My list of favorite comfort reads in general would take up at least ten TTT posts!)
This list (alphabetical by author) is a mix of print and audio books, depending on how I read them. They share the theme of a group of friends, but are otherwise pretty different from each other!
The Magicians* (Penguin, 2009) by Lev Grossman
The Gifted School by Bruce Holsinger
All Together Now (also The Hive) by Gill Hornby
The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat* by Edward Kelsey Moore
A Deadly Education* by Naomi Novik
The Thursday Murder Club* by Richard Osman
Still Life* by Louise Penny
All the Things I Meant to Tell You* by Tiffany L. Warren
The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
The asterisks mean there are other books by the author about the same group of friends.
I’m sharing this with Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, so you’ll find many other Top Ten book lists there!
The Magicians was such a good read.

Relax and enjoy to recharge your batteries.
The Magicians- I watched the show (not all the seasons but the first two- I think??) but it was good.
Thanks for the shoutout! 🙂
I’d love to read The Magicians. I think I’d really like it. Good list. 😀
I haven’t read any of these but when we find books that are our comfort reads then its great. Enjoy your well deserved break.
Whoa – I don’t think I would put A Little Life in any category called “Comfort Reads”! but, yea, group of friends works. I don’t think I can answer what are my comfort reads.
Yeah, that one was a stretch! 😉 That I would reread it because of the group of friends was the main reason.
[…] These Impossible Things by Salma El-Wardany was buzzed about at a virtual library conference and I was able to nab an advance reading copy from NetGalley. I can’t resist a book about a group of best friends, as you may know from my Top Ten Tuesday post last week. […]
What a lovely list, Laurie. I have only read Richard Osman’s novel because I love him so much but the others also sound highly interesting.
Thanks for visiting my TTT this week which is a little different.
I love the Thursday Murder Club books on audio, but I’m sure they would be just as fun to read in print, too!
i enjoyed the thursday murder club books!
[…] The Atlas Six is described as a revised version of the “BookTok sensation,” but I’m not familiar with BookTok at all. I like books about groups of friends – frenemies, in this case – so that’s probably what drew me to this book. (See my Top Ten Tuesday list of favorite books with friend groupings.) […]
